Description:
JOB SUMMARY: This individual is responsible for providing vision care, interacting with patients and preparing them for their time with the doctor. As an ophthalmic assistant, you will provide chair-side doctor assistance, perform diagnostic tests as required by ophthalmologist, and administer treatment when necessary.
COMPETENCIES:
Communication and Patient Care
Provide exceptional vision care to enhance the patient experience.
Greet patients and set expectations for their exam.
Gather patient medical history and complaints.
Monitor patient flow, ensuring the physician exam rooms are always full and patients are moving through the patient experience.
Acts as scribe for physician.
Escorts patients to front desk after exam.
Patient Education
Reviews physician-generated instructions with patient.
Provides appropriate patient education materials as directed by physician.
Administrative
Ensures that exam rooms are tidied and sanitized between patients, including cleaning sinks and sanitizing equipment.
Clean all lenses used by doctors.
Prepares for COA exam.
And all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years' experience in a healthcare setting preferred, but not required.
